DVS
Records began in 2000. The idea behind the record
label was to give talented, original bands a a chance
to make a breakthrough in the music industry jungle.
Our first release came out in October, 2000, which
featuted the debut album from Norwegian band, Sonic
Debris. Reactions where outstanding. Our second release,
the self-titled debutCD by Canadian band, Into Eternity,
was met with the same enthusiasm.
With our third release, "Field Of Names"
from the German band, Alias Eye, it was clear that
DVS Records was gaining ground as a record company
who focuses on quality releases, not quantity of releases.
It's also quite obvious that DVS Records isn't afraid
to try something new, our first 3 releases were very
different from each other from progressive
mainstream to progressive death metal
to progressive art-rock. We received rave reviews
from the press for the originality of our bands.
THE QUEST CONTINUES
With our 4th release, (Into
Eternity - "Dead Or Dreaming") and 5th,
(Wolverine - "The Window Puprose") we went
the extra mile to start distribution and license deals.
Again, the press was very positive about our releases.
In the end, both Into Eternity and Wolverine signed
to larger labels for their next albums. Into Eternity
signed to Century Media, and Wolverine to Elitist
/ Earache Records. We helped the bands out with the
deals because we knew that this could happen, sad
for us but very good for the bands, and that was more
important for us.
In summer of 2002 we released our 6th album, the second
album from Ashes To Ashes of Norway ("Cardinal
VII"), and again we reached a few new deals.
The reactions were once again very positive and again
we showed the diversity of the label, this time we
had a release that can be categorized as progressive
doom / gothic, or Gregorian Metal as we call it.
For many, our 7th release, "Primal Power Addiction"
by Heaven's Cry, was the true culmulation of DVS Records
to date. After this album, we released "Ripples
In Time" by Danish band, Chrome Shift, and later,
the excellent album by the Dutch band Silent Edge,
entitled "The Eyes Of The Shadow". At the
end of 03, we released the second album of the German
art-rock band, Alias Eye, another outstanding surprise
to the music business. Within a 3-year period, we
released 10 albums, showcasing talented, high-caliber
artists.
THE FUTURE
DVS
intends on continuing to position itself as unique
a company that truly understands the bands
that we work with, and the audiences that they hope
to reach. We're encouraged by the recent success of
our recent signs; Voyager, Dynamic Lights, Chaoswave
and The Aurora Project purely and simply: four
fantastic musical experiences!
Through
the partership with DVS Records USA, our promotional
"arm" extends into vast areas and possibilites
possibilities that were once untapped. This new venture
adds promotion, publicity and marketing opportunities
for the label.
The
future's looking spectacular! Just watch what we do
next. ~
