In January 1999, Otto Schütt
(guitar) and Jens Christian Nielsen (bass) decided to form a
band, that was to play original compositions inspired by the
progressive metal-scene. Soon they teamed up with piano player
Jakob Paulsen, and drummer Poul Terkildsen, and rehersing began.
The four musicians played a year while looking for the perfect
singer. At last they found Rasmus Bak and rehersed only once
with him before Chrome Shift in February 2000 recorded a demo-CD
in Aabenraa-Studios in Denmark, with the famous danish producer
Jacob Hansen behind the mixer.
In the spring of 2002 Chrome Shift recorded "Ripples In
Time". Soon after that, the band got a manager, and later
on Chrome Shift signed a record-deal with DVS Records. Chrome
Shift is a progressive rock/metal band and their music contains
elements of King's X, Pain Of Salvation and Dream Theater. The
band wants to play music for the body and soul, while delivering
a well live.
The name Chrome Shift originated from a title of a Nielsen/Schütt
piece. Once trying to name the piece, Otto Schütt remembered
the strange title, ("The Chrome Shift") and he wrote
it down on a piece of paper.
